I’m A Celebrity is back and in full motion. What better way to entertain ourselves during the second lockdown than by having one of the most challenging and yet gruesome shows back on our TV screens.

I’m A Celebrity returned on November 15 at 9pm for its 20th series. One of the UK’s most loved duos, Ant and Dec will be showing their faces again to present the show.

Viewers were worried that the show might not come back this year because of the global pandemic. However, that did not stop the producers from giving us yet another series of it. Many of us were excited and relived to hear that I’m A Celebrity would be continuing.

With several changes to the show, the producers made sure that the series could go ahead and that all the contestants and crew members were healthy and safe. Everyone had to take a COVID test to make sure that they were able to participate for the show.

Although, there is one major change. The TV show as we know, has always been in Australia’s outback which is known for its jungles and terrifying yet exotic creatures. But, for the first time, the location has changed.

I’m A Celebrity this year is in Wales where the 12 contestants will be settling into the life of Gwyrch Castle which people have claimed to be haunted. These contestants include EastEnders Actor Shane Richie, who some of us may know him for his role as Alfie Moon, Olympic gold medallist, Sir Mo Farah, award winning broadcaster, Victoria Derbyshire and former EastEnders and singer Jessica Plummer.

There are other changes to maintain social distancing and to ensure the safety of everyone else. Family members will not be able to go to Wales to see the celebrities as they have done so in Australia in past years.

To ensure contestants are able to deal with low temperatures, especially this time of the year, the usual outfits and swimwear have been swapped out for full sets of thermal clothing and padded gilets.

Nonetheless, the infamous Bushtucker Trials and the creepy crawlies are still there to witness and enjoy.

Here is the full list of the 12-contestant taking part this year:

  • Russel Watson
  • Ruthie Henshall
  • Shane Richie
  • Jordan North
  • Victoria Derbyshire
  • Vernon Kay
  • Sir Mo Farah
