Boris Johnson has announced a four-week national lockdown starting on November 5. Though many were already expecting it, it is still shocking that we must go through another lockdown again. These are difficult times for all of us, but especially for those students who cannot return home to their families. For that reason, I am going to share with you five on-student-budget restaurants that offer takeaway; for those tough days when you may not feel like cooking.

  1. China Express

If you fancy Chinese food, but cannot decide which restaurant to go for, ‘China Express’ is one of the best. This restaurant is located on Cowley Road, near Uxbridge centre, and offer a 10% discount for students living on campus. They provide a fairly fast service with delivery available until 11pm. Overall, they have very good quality food, and the prices are quite fair. If you ask me for a recommendation, order the fried prawns, they are so tasty.

Address: 20 Cowley Rd, Uxbridge UB8 2LT.

Order: Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eats and their own website.

  1. Hot Box Chicken

If you are craving fried chicken, ‘Hot Box Chicken’ is the one. They offer different meals at a very good price. One of the cheapest comes with a chicken burger, fries, three chicken wings and a drink for only £3.50. So compared to others it is probably the most affordable option. Their delivery fee is very small, or even free if you live nearby. It is also important to mention that they deliver a really fast service, which is always a plus for us hungry students.

Address: 98 Cowley Rd, Uxbridge UB8 2LX.

Order: Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eats.

  1. Roosters Piri Piri

Alternatively, if you want chicken but not fried ‘Roosters Piri Piri’ is my suggestion. One of the things I like the most is the different ways they serve grilled chicken. For example, you can order it in a burger, or in a wrap; but also, as a single dish that comes with fries and a drink. They offer different sauces to cook the chicken with, such as barbecue, lemon and herbs or spicy. And they too offer a few deals at a very good price.

Address: 43-44 Windsor St, Uxbridge UB8 1AB.

Order: Uber Eats, Deliveroo.

  1. Woodland Pizza & Kebab

You may not know exactly what you want, if you are having one of those days, ‘Woodland Pizza & Kebab’ is a good option. They have different deals and meals at a very low price, for example, any two large pizzas for £17.00. Apart from pizzas, they also have burgers, kebabs and wraps; and even though I have not tried their burgers I can confirm the pizzas – especially the farmhouse pizza – and kebabs are very good. They offer free delivery when you spend £12.00 and live within three miles, plus are open until late at night. So, if you live nearby, it is a very good choice.

Address: 24 Cowley Rd, Uxbridge UB8 2LT.

Order: Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Just Eats and their own website.

  1. Five Guys

If you have a little more budget, I definitely recommend you check out ‘Five Guys’. They are known worldwide for their quality hamburgers and fries. The good thing about this restaurant is that you can add as many toppings as you want to the burger and hotdogs. Apart from their food, Five Guys also serve milkshakes that, aside from being delicious, you can customise as you like for the same price. They deliver a good and fast service with customers usually waiting about ten minutes for their order; and considering that they prepare everything on the spot, it is quite fast. Let me give you some advice, be aware that with any fries you get, they will add a lot more (probably the same size you ordered) as an extra.

Address: 162-163 High St, Uxbridge UB8 1JZ.

Order: Deliveroo and their own website.
