Savage X Fenty is back and more extravagant than ever. Volume 2 of Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty fashion show premiered on October 2 which is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
Even a global pandemic, which has stopped live fashions, could not stop Rihanna from having a fashion extravaganza that showcased her brand-new lingerie line.
The fashion show consisted of musical performances from Rosalia, Miguel, Ella Mai to Roddy Rich, DJ Mustard and Travis Scott. As well as, high class celebrities and models such as Bella Hadid, Normani, Demi Moore, Willow Smith, Paris Hilton and more.
Rihanna casted a diverse line-up of models ranging from various body shapes, gender to race and the inclusion of LGBTQ+ models. Inclusivity is vital for Rihanna and she delivered in doing just that.
New Zealand choreographer, Parris Goebel, who worked on the show last year, is back again with a more fierce and powerful choreography that really encapsulates confidence and sexiness. The energy and the adrenaline that the dancers displayed through her choreography is inspiring.
The words “skin” … “touch”… “feel” opened up the main premise of what this year’s Savage X Fenty line is about. Throughout the fashion show, Rihanna takes us on a visual journey of her creative process in coming up with designs and ideas of her lingerie line. Inspired by the concept of diaries, Rihanna has covered her designs in her handwriting, along with smiley faces and doodles, making this line stand out from volume 1’s.
Rihanna has also expanded her lingerie line to include more men’s underwear and loungewear which were modelled by Christian Combs and Big Sean.
Sexuality was a concept that was explored within the show. Rihanna’s take on sexuality was that she feels empowered to be able to wear what she wants, how she wants for her own satisfaction and not for others. This sentiment was apparent through the performances, outfits, dances and the models.
Savage X Fenty Vol. Two is a big level up from the first one but nonetheless, her lingerie makes you want to embrace your sexiness. Regardless of your body type, skin, gender, we can all be sexy and that’s what makes this show inspirational.
